The South African website called on registered film students at a South African university, college or similar around the country to get creative – and win.

Their task?

To document a social issue facing South Africa today.

Following the entry deadline, three submissions were shortlisted for the R10 000 first prize and runner-up prize of R5 000.

A public vote (25%) in conjunction with a panel of expert judges (listed below) in the field of filmmaking and journalism (75%) helped determine the worthy winner.

Once the votes were tallied and the judges had made their determinations, Stigma was declared the winner with Amadelakufa Esizwe finishing in second place.

Congratulations to both students on their outstanding submissions.

She has worked on numerous international and local feature films and series in production management. Outside of being an educator, curious in the field of film studies, decolonisation and revisionist histories, Arushani continues to write and produce fictional and factual motion picture content.
