Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the party is open to being part of coalitions after the upcoming general elections in May as long the party’s demands are met.

Malema was addressing journalists in Sandton on Friday on issues affecting the party and the upcoming polls in general, according to SABC News.

“We are not far from a lot of parties about what needs to happen I mean ATM, AZAPO, PAC, MK including the ANC by the way on the land question,” Malema said.

“We are not far apart we had actually had an agreement with the ANC that we would expropriate land without compensation and they developed a cold feet that we are going to nationalise the Reserve Bank, that we are going to establish a state bank. These two we followed up when we went to Parliament and nationalisation of mines and one of the simplest demands we made was removed die stem from the national anthem,” he added.

ANC LIMPOPO WELCOMES 1000 EFF MEMBERS

Meanwhile, the ANC in Limpopo says has welcomed over 1000 EFF members in the province ahead of the general elections on 29 May.

Former EFF Limpopo chairperson Jossey Buthane, who recently rejoined the ANC, says their departure from the party stems from their discontent with the party’s national leadership.

Politics expert Ricky Mukonza says this is not a good sign.

Mukonza says, “It doesn’t inspire confidence for both the other members who are left in the EFF and, more importantly, for fence sitters because we must remember that there are some potential voters who are undecided at this point in time. Those are unlikely to be attracted to the EFF.”
