Social media users recently shared horrifying footage of a drunk driver swerving in front of other vehicles on the R516 near Bela Bela. 

Someone captured the horrifying footage on the R516 

In the video, you can see a white 2015 Honda CR-V swerving over the road, driving off the road into ditches, miraculously missing several vehicles, trucks, and trees before eventually losing control. 

This video quickly went viral, with many social media users expressing their shock at how the driver endangered all the other motorists.

So, what can happen to you in South Africa if you are caught driving under the influence?

In South Africa, the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit for drivers is 0.05 grams per 100 milliliters of blood. 

This limit applies to all drivers, regardless of age or driving experience. 

The limit is even stricter for professional drivers, such as truck drivers or taxi operators, set at 0.02 grams per 100 milliliters of blood.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE IN SA

Driving under the influence of alcohol is a criminal offense in South Africa. The National Road Traffic Act covers it, classifying it as a serious violation of the law.

According to Meyer and Partners Attorneys, law enforcement officers have the authority to stop and arrest drivers suspected of drunk driving.
