Kaizer Chiefs are keen to bring a Soweto-born star back to Naturena but he’s in demand on the African continent and abroad.

KAIZER CHIEFS FACE COMPETITION FOR LUTHER SINGH

According to Soccer-LadumaChiefs are facing stiff competition for 26-year-old wide attacker Luther Singh’s signature in the shape of Egyptian giants Al Ahly. However, the Glamour Boys appear to be leading that race.

“As much as Chiefs are in the forefront right now they face stiff competition from Al Ahly of Egypt. But with him and his representatives, Chiefs are their first priority and that gives them the chance to sign him. So let’s just wait for a few days or weeks and things will be done,” said their source.

Forgotten Bafana Bafana star Singh enters the radar again

According to iDiski Times, Bafana Bafana star Luther Singh is on the radar of both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The 26-year-old Soweto-born wide attacker hasn’t represented his country in a little under three years.

“We received offers from Egypt, Morocco, Scotland, Sweden, and Major League Soccer. One Soweto club also enquired. The reason we haven’t made the decision is that the offers are not favourable for the player (Singh), we still want to wait a bit. He still wants to play abroad, but if the right deal locally comes, he will take it. The aim is to get back to the national team.” said agent Warren Swartz back in March.

Singh was released by Serbian outfit FK Čukarički at the start of 2024 after making just 14 appearances. Sings has had stints in Portugal, Denmark and Sweden too but never settled for long with one team. He made his Bafana Bafana debut in March 2017 and appeared 13 times for South Africa. The most recent appearance came in World Cup qualifying in 2021 against Zimbabwe.

MTN8 qualification goes to the wire

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs will have to beat relegated Cape Town Spurs on the final day of the campaign and hope the teams around them in the table don’t manage big wins. The table is so congested that Chiefs, AmaZulu and Polokwane all have 36 points while Golden Arrows have 35 and Chippa have 34. All of these sides are fighting for one place and it could easily boil down to goal difference. AmaZulu and Arrows meet in the only direct battle here. Not even a victory guarantees an MTN8 slot for Chiefs as AmaZulu and Polokwane can match their points tally with a win of their own. Chiefs’ goal difference is +1 better than AmaZulu’s and +4 better than Polokwane’s, so a comfortable win at Spurs SHOULD seal 8th place. However, any other result puts them in danger.
